About Emilia Garrido
Emilia's work centers on dance, choreography, collaborative performance, and community-based projects that expand beyond traditional classical structures. While classically trained in ballet, her artistic practice focuses on experimentation, interdisciplinary exploration, and mentorship. In my practice, I explore questions of access and inclusion within dance. As a neurodivergent dancer, I approach choreography as embodied expression connecting movement, emotion, and storytelling. I am interested in how dance can function as a tool for connection, expression, and self-regulation. My work draws from diverse influences, including social dance traditions, folkloric dance from my native home of Ecuador, and contemporary dance.
